Bring the unfinished things to God

A reflection on returning to a delayed responsibility with honesty, prayer and a manageable next step.

An unfinished task can take up more room in our thoughts than we expect. We remember the conversation we have avoided, the decision we keep postponing or the work we began with enthusiasm and then put aside.

Proverbs 16:3 invites us to commit our work to the Lord. We can bring Him the task itself, along with the fear, uncertainty or disappointment that has gathered around it. We do not need to present a polished account of why we have delayed.

Begin with what is true

Name one unfinished responsibility. Ask what is making it difficult to return to. The answer may be practical: you need information, time or someone’s help. It may also reveal a fear of getting it wrong or facing a response you cannot control.

Let that honesty shape your prayer. Ask for wisdom about what belongs to you in this season and what may need to be reconsidered. Then identify one step you can actually take, such as making a call, asking for help or setting aside a short period of focused time.

Return to the task with a willingness to be guided. You can make a beginning without knowing every step that will follow.

Take a moment to reflect

Reflect

What have you been postponing? What practical help or honest conversation would make a beginning possible?

Pray

Father, I bring You what I have left unfinished. Help me see my responsibilities clearly, ask for the help I need and take the next step with wisdom. Amen.
